Description

Gaia...mother earth, keeper of all that dwells on the surface of this planet.

Just like it was with Aurora, she was created without a thought about what I wanted to do.
I love mythological characters, expecially goddesses...I guess there are more to come someday.
Gaia is one of my most beloved ones and so I'm really glad to see the outcome of the piece
It was lots and lots of work and came out to be really personal. I started yesterday around noon and finished it today (yeah I got sleep, but apart from that, not much happened )
What took the longest was her hair...its ALL painted and I really, really like how it looks. It created itself I guess...I just happened to hold the pencil :D
I've never painted as much digital before...I'm still stunned :D
It's painted with a wacom intous4s tablet :)

One of my fav methodes:
To work colors over the picture, I use different solid color layers that are set to diffuse glow. Play around with the colors you can choose and blend it out via a mask at places you don't want them (to get contrasts or different saturation levels). It's easy to achive a total new feeling to a picture like that.

I hope you like it...Comments and constructive critiques are welcome as always :floating:

edit: THANK YOU!!
I've never had that many favs and views before (not slightly)!
Thank you all who liked this picture and for the awesome support :huggle:

second edit:
I really am sorry, but I can't thank you all in person for faving anymore...I spend more than four hours the other day doing so and I really enjoyed it, but I (still don't get I really have to say that) can't keep up anymore right now. Please don't be offended...I thank you all from the core of my being for every single viewing or faving
I'll still comment back of course :huggle: :blowkiss:

Thank you all for your support and if you really wish to have this pic without the watermark, please write me a note :)

First off, I really like this piece and I want to point out the great things about it now, but because of how I structure critiques I will start of with what can use improving.

There really is only one thing that I honestly thinks makes this piece any less amazing. The end of her hair, to me it seems like its the end of branches, which probably was what you were aiming for, but if you were hoping to have the hair look like branches, its not too obvious. They're in a pattern, which tree branches are not.

So, that was my only negative comment now onto the amazing aspects of it: the lighting.

It is a perfect job, and it especially stands out on the dress how it hits it and you can see every shadow, which actually takes my breath away.

This really is a near perfect piece.
Keep up the amazing work.
